I love the children's book The Secret Garden by Frances H. Burnett. I like the idea of characters living in my own garden too. These are from own back patio garden. Now without the color of flowers, my garden friends shine.
Dh and I have been catching up on "Breaking Bad" on Netflix. We have been to New Mexico where the series is filmed and love the beauty of the light and sky. I particularly like the contrast of the characters to their surroundings and they're actions. There are many, many bad people...doing very bad, bad things in such a beautiful environment!
These are done in oil on canvas sheets. The new products available to use make oil painting a pleasure and no odor!
Did our annual week at the cottage in Cayucos, CA. Beach hamlet Cayucos was as lovely as it has ever been. Saw all kinds of wild life: sea otters, sea lions, dolphins, sea birds, pelicans, herons, falcons (on Morro Rock). Watched SF Giants win two of their games toward the sweep in the World Series, read a book (Gone Girl), painted, saw a movie (Argo), took an electric boat ride around Moro Bay (inside breakwater), dined out twice (Moonstone Inn and Sea Shanty) and had fabulous "home" cooked meals. Isn't every vacation a reason to eat great food? We had summer tomatoes courtesy of Pat Dark...yum.
I rarely talk about food on my art blog but I just had to share my meal of homemade Jimboy's Tacos. I've eating Jimboy's since 1973 (the year I moved to Sacramento,CA). When I left Sacto in 1980 besides missing family and friends, I missed Jimboy's too.
jb the cook hit a home run at his first at bat. jb and I still will travel north and include a stop at Jimboy's but now I wouldn't have to wait so long.
Dig in!
If you want to know locations and more about the Jimboy's tradition go here.
The day after jb and I attended my 50th High School Reunion I came home and started a large art piece 20"X24" drawing paper. I was so full of memories, emotions (mixed and otherwise), wonderment that I had to express it.
Starting with one of my favorite activities "Zentangle" I was just went from there and arrived here:

This is complete but I am not finished with the process of digesting the event.
