Amazing that one can learn so much from the internet! I watched some tuts and read Posie's post and here I am doing it!
I made my blocking surface from kitchen towels and scrap foam core and LOTS of pins.
I used every last pin in the box. The stacked pieces I did yesterday...half yesterday and the rest today.
I am done for the day...waiting for them to dry so I'm off to Art Hus to work my first shift as a store keeper!
I started the image of 99 bottles of beer on the wall when I began this afghan. I have now arrived at 100 completed pieces.
Up next is blocking, then adding edging and poofs!
I pose the question knowing full well that of course potholders are a form of art! Love the simple shapes and wonderful colors.
My friend flickr even has a group of just potholders! The next two photos are from that group.
I just can't tolerate the idea of ragu sauce on these lovelies.
All in the name of art....I serach the internet for inspiration. So far I haven't fallen into the Pinterest Pool but just saying...
Dana has been encouraging her web readers to paint everyday for the month of May so she is my first source of inspiration.
Kari has been doing a series of feathers which I really have enjoyed evolving. She too ecourages us to create everyday.
This canvas is a small square 8"X8". It may stay this way or not. I think I've done at least four paintings on this canvas!
So what does that song have to do with crocheting an afghan? Well, really not much but since I will be making 100 "squares" that's all I can think of!
With my recent crocheting craze I had been seeking a simple, beautiful, colorful pattern and I found it! Kaleidoscope by Cecile Balladino of Eclectric Gipsyland and in kit form from Renanissance Dyeing.
I'm in for 23 squares so far and enjoying it so much. The wool yarn is lovely to the touch and the colors great in combination.

Dd introduced my to Craftsy and I was wandering around that site recently and fell into a must need to learn Amigurumi. Craftsy was offering a half price eclass and I was hooked (yeap, pun intented!)
The class is about designing your own patterns. I choose that class as a way of trying to figure out how best I learn. So far I have liked the "reason why" you do that method. Stacey Trock tells you why you should do it this way or that...the pros and cons of a certain method.
I think this little guy is pretty cute for my first Monster Ball Doll! What's your new skill?
I am getting excited about family coming for a visit this weekend! I made these creatures for the boys of this family. They are filled with a plastic bag so when they're squezzed they squeak!
Two of these see eye to eye, the other does not! Have a wonderful weekend.
These 12"X12" wrap canvases are now available at Art Brut inside Cafe Quackenbush in the small and lovely village of Los Alamos, CA. They are open for breakfast and lunch til 4pm. When you stand at the counter to order your fabulous meal just look to your right and there is a wall of my work! The food is special and the art is too.
