Aunt Sis is my favorite aunt...she's always been my favorite and not because she's my only aunt!
My father had no siblings and my mother had one sister...Aunt Sis. She tried at times for me to call her Aunt Lucille but to no avail. She's having a wonderful life...still drives, lives in her own house, has children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Traveled the world, lived in England and now lives on the shore of Lake Canandaigua NY.

Hiding in plain sight of Adrienne's walls were two large oil painting done by my sister-in-law Jonelle. Neither she nor I could remember the circumstances of how they came to be in her house but she has loved and cared for them since 1966. I am so thrilled to know that they are there and being enjoyed.

Bob and Adrienne were our hosts for the 45th College reunion. Bob was a classmate of jb's and Adrienne a freshman suitemate and dear friend of mine. I'm going to make a card with this sketch. I've seen Adrienne occasionally over the years but this was my time to visit their lovely home in the hills of Castro Valley. Tomorrow I will share a surprise that greeted me there.
So minding our own business, jb and I are traveling the highways of California. Up and back to Sacramento to attend 50th Wedding Anniversary of dear friends, and see my sister and her husband. Next was another quickie to Northern CA to attend college class reunion...can you believe 45! Then WHAM a long pipe flips up into view kicked up by car in front of us and said pipe pierces our fender!
I'm grateful...no real harm, no foul.
Went to sleep away camp once (hated it) and never was a girl scout but I've had the itch to make a Friendship bracelet with floss. Managed to find a good enough tut online and made my self a few. I loved the zone of knotting and tying.
Find yourself a beach chair, a handful of floss and make your self some trinkets! Have a great weekend.
Last Saturday I attended a workshop by Michael deMeng at the Solvang Art Clinic. His own work is goth and dark but his methods can be applied how ever you might want to create. I was way out of my usual element but went with the flow and am happy with my journal cover. If you get a chance to work with Michael I would say go for it even if he's not your "style". Excellent instructor who can pack a lot into a class, Michael gives good advice and the after class critique was just as good.
These Fortune Houses will be on display and For Sale at The C Gallery in Los Alamos, CA. The work of Peg Grady is the featured artist and I am part of a small group of artists showing associated work. A Sense of Place opens July 9th and closes on September 7, 2011. Open Reception is Saturday July 9 from 4 to 6 pm. All Welcome
Still wrestling with my box of gouache paints. I did discover that when the paint dries up on the palette it can still be used if moistened again with water. duh! I am so used to acrylic paint that once it is dried it will never rise from the dead. I had been painting like a bat out of hell with the gouache trying to get all the color down before it dried up on me! Well, I am not exactly painting in a relaxed manner but I am making progress.
My father-in-law recently died and this is a painting of the only thing that my husband retrieved from his childhood home, a ceramic plate. jb has good taste.

Get Your Paint On is now in its third week. This week's assignment was to take four colors from whatever and paint duplicating the exact same colors. We were encouraged to select colors that needed to be mixed to create a new color...and perhaps limit ourselves to four colors. Usually I am good student and try to follow directions but I gave myself an assignment that was a variation of the theme. Take my box of 5 gouache paints and create all my colors from just using the gouache paint...no cheating allowed! Couldn't reach into my huge supply of acrylic tubes and get just the right hue and tone.
